CONSENSUS STATEMENT -
As a group we thought 6 + 1 traits is a very good tool. However, the rubrics are to wordy for students use. Some of the words may be very discouraging for some students, while others may be confused because the rubric is not straight to the point. For a teacher to use the rubrics is very time consuming. To grade on essay on all criteria would take a very long time. However, once a teacher is familiar with the rubrics, unlike ourselves, it may be very useful and does not take up as much time!

The expectations for presentations in our future classrooms will depend on the grade level in which we teach. Some people mentioned having expectations being consistent with student’s level of achievement in the following areas: legibility, correct spelling, punctuation, grammar usage, and sentence structure. Everyone agrees to maintain a positive attitude towards students and have them present at their best ability.

Paper 1: This paper deseves a 1 because it is very difficult to read. The blank spots and words scratched out add to the frusteration of trying to read this paper.

Paper 2: This paper deserves a 2 because it would take a lot of time to decode all the words. It is very hard to read.

Paper 3: this paper deserves a 4. It was pretty well done.

Paper 4: This paper deserves a 3. The spacing was distracting.

Paper 5: This paper deserves a 4. The title is very large which would distract a reader.

Paper 6: This paper deserves a 5. It was very well done and could be used for an example!
