Welcome to the EDU343-6plus1Traits wiki. You will use this wiki to work with your group to complete the tasks for each trait.

  1. Click the "What Group am I in?" page link located on the left side of this window to learn to which group you have been assigned to collaborate with for this online session #3.
  2. Next, click the appropriate Group # link to access your group page and work with the group members.
  3. Click the DISCUSSION tab on each group page and use that area to discuss with your group members until you reach consensus.
  4. After you have reached consensus regarding the score for each of the writing samples, return to the Group Page and post the grade/point value you agreed as a group for each trait on your Group PAGE.
  5. To enter information on the Group Page area, please click the EDIT tab located at the right side of the page.
  6. When you finish entering the information on the page, click Save remember to save the change made on the page as you move through each trait..
BELOW you will find the instructions to complete your work for each specific trait.

6 + 1 Traits – IDEAS

1.) Review the “Scoring Guide” for Ideas in your blue folder.
2.) With your group members discuss each of the 3 student essays – in terms of “Ideas”.
3.) Using language and evidence from the rubric, come to a consensus and assign a grade/point value to each of the 3 student essays:

· Cat/Dog
· Earth
· Zeena


6 + 1 Traits – ORGANIZATION
1.) Review the “Scoring Guide” for Organization in your blue folder.
2.) With your group members discuss each of the 3 student essays – in terms of “Organization”.
3.) Using language and evidence from the rubric, come to a consensus and assign a grade/point value to each of the 3 student essays:

· To be a good Techer
· What are the Qualities of a Good Teacher?
· A Good Teacher


6 + 1 Traits – VOICE
1.) Review the “Scoring Guide” for Voice in your blue folder.
2.) With your group members discuss each of the 3 student essays – in terms of “Voice”.
3.) Using language and evidence from the rubric, come to a consensus and assign a grade/point value to each of the 3 student essays:

· A Day as a Rain Drop
· One Day I Was Riding
· Frogs

6 + 1 Traits – WORD CHOICE
1.) Review the “Scoring Guide” for Word Choice in your blue folder.
2.) With your group members discuss each of the 3 student essays – in terms of “Word Choice”.
3.) Using language and evidence from the rubric, come to a consensus and assign a grade/point value to each of the 3 student essays:

· Mother is Nice
· My Most Rewarding Moment
· A & W


6 + 1 Traits – SENTENCE FLUENCY
1.) Review the “Scoring Guide” for Sentence Fluency in your blue folder.
2.) With your group members discuss each of the 3 student essays – in terms of “Sentence Fluency”.
3.) Using language and evidence from the rubric, come to a consensus and assign a grade/point value to each of the 3 student essays:

· Bud
· Remembering Our Flag
· All About Rabbits


6 + 1 Traits – CONVENTIONS
1.) Review the “Scoring Guide” for Conventions in your blue folder.
2.) With your group members discuss each of the 3 student essays – in terms of “Conventions”.
3.) Using language and evidence from the rubric, come to a consensus and assign a grade/point value to each of the 3 student essays:

· Remembering Our Flag
· Aunt Leisa
· What are the Qualities of a Good Teacher?


6 + 1 Traits – PRESENTATION
In this section of your blue folder – please read and reflect on the various examples and scoring of essay presentations. Discuss with your group members your expectations for “Presentation” in your future classroom.

ALSO – review the 4-5-6 point expanded rubrics. Discuss your preferences with your group members. On the Group Page post a consensus summary of what your group sees as the strengths and/or weaknesses of the 6 + 1 Traits framework for teaching and assessing writing.
